Howard Choy |
Howard Choy [B Sc (Arch), B Arch], Director and Principal Architect of Feng Shui
Architects, is a qualified and practising architect. He is a graduate in architecture of University
of NSW. Howard was born in China and migrated to Australia at an early age. He has
managed to keep his language and culture intact through his involvement with Feng Shui, Tai
Chi and Qigong. Feng Shui provides the perfect vehicle for him to combine his passion for
Chinese cultural heritage with his professional practice. Howard is a foundation member of
the Feng Shui Society of Australia.
Howard's Feng Shui training and experience include the following:
1978 - 1980
Studied Feng Shui under the personal tutelage of Master Ren Zhilin in Hong Kong
1992 - Present
Visited and studied with various Feng Shui experts in China, including:
Professor Wang Yude of Huazhong Normal University, Wuhan
Professor Cheng Jiangiun of Huanam University of Huanam University of Technology, Guangzhou

Howard regularly teaches workshops in Feng Shui, both in Australia and overseas. He is
currently teaching Feng Shui, Tai Chi and Qigong in Europe: Finland, Switzerland, Germany
and Poland. He was invited to talk at the International Feng Shui Conference, London (1999)
and was pivotal in the setting up of the International Feng Shui Society in 1998.
Howard has also produced a variety of literature in these fields:
Two companion volumes Feng Shui: Creating health, wealth and harmony, Pan Macmillan,
Sydney 1998, and Qigong: health, healing and harmony, Pan Macmillan, Sydney 1998. Co-
written with Belinda Henwood.
Feng Shui - How to create harmony and balance in your living and working environment,
Lansdowne Press, 1997. Co-written with Belinda Henwood.
Since January 1992, Howard has written a monthly column on Feng Shui for the Better
Homes and Gardens magazine
Contributes articles on Feng Shui to various local and overseas magazines, including:

- Living Tao magazine, Switzerland
- Feng Shui for Modern Living, England
Howard has extensive Tai Chi and Qigong experience:
Howard also teaches workshops in Tai Chi And Qigong both in Australia and overseas (and
works closely with his kung fu and Qigong teacher Chen Yong-Fa of the Shaolin Lohan
Therapeutic Qigong Centre).
Howard Choy is Principal of Sydney Tai Chi & Qigong Centre, teaching both traditional Yang
and Chen style tai chi, with two other instructors, William Lau and Angela Tay.
Howard has studied Yang Family Tai Chi with Yang Sou-Chung, the great-grandson of Yang
Lu-Zhen, founder of Yang Family Tai Chi. He has also studied Chen Family Tai Chi with
Chen Xiao-wang, 19th generation descendant of Chen Family Tai Chi. Within feng shui
seminars in Poland he teaches also tai chi and qigong for feng shui practitioners.
Feng Shui College of Sydney is an educational part of the Howard Choy &
Associates practice. We aim to make Feng Shui accessible to the general public and to bring
Feng Shui and architecture together, including all areas of environmental design. Howard
teaches not only in Sydney, Australia but has students in Canada, Chile, Denmark, England,
Finland, Germany, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
Feng Shui Architects Pty Ltd (t/a Howard Choy & Associates) is an architectural
firm with Howard Choy - Director and Principal Architect; Bec Francis - Associate and Senior
Architect; and Daniel Squires - Project Architect. While domestic scale architecture
predominates FSA's work, they have been heavily involved in several high-profile urban scale
projects. These include Haymarket Precinct Urban Redevelopment, the Chinese Community
Centre (Haymarket), and the Entertainment Centre Precinct Urban Renewal.
