Design Philosophy
& Approach
We
promote ‘responsive’ architecture – buildings
which respond to the site, the climate and,
of course, the client. Many of our clients come
to us through an interest in our Feng Shui expertise,
and as such our work often contains Feng Shui
design elements.
Our professional
Feng Shui Architectural service compliments
our Feng Shui practice by providing our clients
with an holistic approach to environmental design.
For some of our clients the engagement of our
architectural services is a natural progression
from a Feng Shui consultation.

The
vast majority of our architectural work is of
a domestic scale – additions and alteration
as well as new residences.

Practice
We
provide our clients with a comprehensive architectural
service on an individual project basis.
We take our clients
through the very first aspects of site investigations,
to the hand-over of the completed building and
post-occupancy assessment.
We are able to
provide design concepts, feasibility studies,
measured drawings, sketch designs, council/authority
applications, tender documentation, contract
documentation, reports (Statements of Environmental
Effects, Design Briefs, Specifications etc.)
and colour schemes. In order to carry out each
project we liase with councils, consultants,
builders and neighbours. We are also involved
in the administration of contracts (project
management) throughout the construction process.
Increasing overseas commitments lead to the Sydney practice being relocated to Berlin, operating under the name of arqitektur.ac in Berlin with Gyda Anders and Tilman Weiland.
In addition to
these services we are also involved in assistance
with teaching and tutoring (in the past predominantly at
The University of New South Wales, and now mainly in the Architecture Department of Leipzig University).
